The Craziness Has Ended...

or has it just begun? The weekend went really well! We had a great time at the shower for Katie, our BBQ was fun, and the weather was perfect for the race! We really enjoyed seeing everyone. But just when I thought things were slowing down, I realized I am going to Chicago on Saturday for Katie's bachelorette party. This will be the first time Tyler has Lily all by himself overnight. I know I am way more worried than he is, but that's a mom's job, right?

Hanging out with Uncle Nick!
Lily's first swim with Dad! She loves her new car float. It will be a hit all summer!!

Play All Day

Here are some pictures of the girls I nanny for, Kirkland and Kjirste. Kirkland is 2 1/2 and Kjirste is 1. Lily LOVES to play with them. She thinks she is such a big shot when she's with them.

Lily thinks Kirkland and Kjirste have the coolest toys!!!
Kirkland acts like Lily's second mom. She will bring her binky to her or go and talk to her if she's crying. It's too cute!

We're getting geared up for a BIG weekend. On Friday night I am helping my mom and two others host a shower for my friend since 6th grade, Katie Wales. I am helping to make food, set up, etc. Then Uncle Nick and his friend Tim are coming in on Friday for the race. On Saturday we have about 20 more guests coming in town and we're having a BBQ on Saturday night. Am I crazy?? Two parties in two nights with a 7 month old? Then on Sunday we are off to the race and Lily is staying with Nana and Grandad Mark. There are 24 of us taking a bus down to the track and we have a section of tickets together which is a recipe for a great time. Although I a little stressed now, it is going to be a great weekend spent with lots of good friends.

7 months old!

The time has flown by! We can't believe she's already 7 months old. We had to move the sign, but as you can see, she still got it. You can't really tell from the pictures, but she is getting more hair. I think she may have even passed up Tyler. Also, she has some SERIOUS thighs. I think she grows a new roll everyday.

So curious about the piece of paper! ha!

A Beautiful Day!

It was gorgeous today!!! I took Lily's exersaucer outside and she played, while I got to do some reading. Then we went on the Monon with Jamie. We walked for a while, but then decided we needed to have a margarita on such a beautiful Friday afternoon. Below is a picture of Lily on the walk. She loves to put her legs up on the tray!

Tyler was even able to join us for an afternoon cocktail!!

Tyler and I were able to sneak away tonight. Uncle Andrew watched Lily and Tyler and I went out to eat (thank you Aunt Sue and Uncle Denis for the gift certificate). We don't get out too often, so it was nice to slow down and listen to what was going on in each other's lives.

A Day at the Park

Lily, Nana Mark, and I enjoyed going down the slides and swinging at the park! Clearly, she loved it.
I had a great 1st mother's day! Dunkin Donuts were downstairs when I woke up. Tyler had made a really cute card with a picture of Lily on it and also got me a book that I'm very excited about. For dinner, we went to my parents' house and my brothers and Dad had made dinner. What a relaxing day!!!

One Big Mess

Lily is learning how to drink from a sippy cup! I usually give the cup to her right before I change her into her clothes for the day. That way, she can get as wet as she wants. Today, she had poured most of the water on the tray, so I added a little rice cereal to see what she would do. First, she put her hand in it and was totally confused. Then she took her clean hand and tried to get the cereal off with her other hand. With some frustration, she realized that would not work, so she dipped her hand in the rice cereal. After a couple of minutes, Lily discovered she could swish her hand in the cereal and then eat it. She thought that was fun!

Today, Tyler's lacrosse team begins the end of the year tournament. Good luck to them! Also, update on Tyler's mini marathon run (thanks for reminding me Jenny!)...he finished in under 2 hours and never stopped running. I was rather impressed!!!

Jumpin' Baby

I figured out how to download movies from my camera! I'm pretty proud of myself, because I usually stumble with "technological things". Anways, here's a little clip of Lily's new favorite...her Jumparoo. She would be in it for hours if she could.

She has also been eating Cheerios all by herself. She can usually get one in her mouth about 1/3 of the time. They usually end up sticking to her face or hand or are on the floor. It's pretty funny to watch.

Hey Alpha Gams!

Look very close at Lily's PJ's and you will see squirrels! Yes, Lily is wearing her Alpha Gam pajamas (thank you Lindsey)! On the pants there are little squirrels, acorns, and acorn trees. For those of you who are totally confused what I am talking about, I was in Alpha Gamma Delta sorority in college and our mascot was the squirrel. Yes, I know it's a little weird. Also, Lily is playing with her Boilermaker Special train (thank you Fr. Steve). She loves to try to grap the balls as they pop up.
Right now Tyler is running the Mini Marathon...13.1 miles! Please pray for him!! I'm a little nervous, because he didn't get to train quite as much as he wanted. Yikes.

Happy Birthday Grandma Mayer!!!

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my favorite Grandmother living in Chicago! Eat lots of cake, because I know I would!

Love,

Lily Grace Mayer

First Outing!

Lily and I went to our very first baby hour at the library. It's a wonderful little program and competely FREE. Doesn't that make it even better? You go and sit and they read books and sing songs. Lily loved watching all the other kids and I also enjoyed the company of some other moms.

Lily also proved her toughness there. She was playing with some toys and a girl came over who could walk and snatched the toy right out of Lily's hands. The girl started to play with it right in front of Lily. She decided she would have none of that, so she reached all the way over and snatched the toy right back. Glad to know she can stick up for herself.

Also, yesterday the Pack and Play came down in the family room. Lily used to take naps all the time in it when she was little, but now she will only take naps in her crib. It's nice to see that only most of our family room (instead of all of it) it being taken over by baby stuff. But the toys are multiplying quickly and I'm sure will take over soon enough.
