Our Summer Happenings

What an amazing summer this has been! Tyler has been home so much, so we've really been able to enjoy each (HOT!) summer day. Tyler officially starts back on Monday. Lily will go to school with him 3 days a week. She is so excited to go back to Trojan Tots. Even though our family doubled, we still tried to do as many activities possible. We had lots of people saying, "Are you crazy?" But hey, this is our life. We have 4 under 4 and we still want to do fun stuff with the girls. It just takes planning, organization, and lots of energy. I'm definitely sad that our summer is coming to close, but I'm ready for the challenge of being home by myself with 4. I know I can do it...even if it does involve a glass of wine at 5PM! Below are some pictures of our summer happenings.

Hanging out with Uncle Bubba.

Playing at the water park!

Holding babies.

Being naked!

And of course swimming at Nana's...or Nina's as Bridget tells us.

We also took the twins to their first Indians game and we joined the YMCA. I think it may be my savior. They had a "Child Watch." I can drop off all 4 kids off for TWO WHOLE HOURS and workout and actually shower without anyone screaming. They will feed the babies and have little art activities for the girls. My first time I was paged over the loud speaker to come and get Bridget (she was so sad), but surely it will get better!

Happy 4th!

We travelled to Glen Ellyn for the 4th again this year. We started off the weekend with a Mayer wedding, where the twins got to make their debut. We went to the parade this year and Lily was lucky enough to be in the parade! Thanks Aunt CC! She was more than thrilled!

Tyler, Papa, and Lily went to go see fireworks that night. I guess by the end of the fireworks Lily was holding her eyelids open to see them, she was so tired! ha! She eventually just passed out. She is definitely a party animal! Throwing candy from the float!

Bridget waiting to see her sister in the parade.

Hi Bamma!

Bridget is holding her twins!

You know there will be many more photos of matching outfits!

1 Month Old

Wow! It has gone fast! Lucy and Thomas are doing great. Thomas is 7 lbs. 1 oz. and Lucy is 5 lbs. 15 oz. and growing everyday. They both love to snuggle and get kisses from their sisters. I love the way Bridget says their names...Nomis and Oo-cee!

Lucy chillin and Thomas wide-eyed.

THE WEDDING

The wedding finally arrived and the day was absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe my little brother is married! We are more than excited to have Katie as a part of our family.

The day went very well from our end. The Mayers came to help with the girls and the twins. I fit in my dress. The girls BOTH walked down the aisle. There were two other flower girls. Half way down the aisle Lily stopped one of the flower girls and sternly told her she was walking too fast!

Lily danced the night away! She was on the last bus home and outlasted Tyler and I.

Favorite pictures from the wedding!

The beautiful bride and I! She was stunning!!! That's the veil I wore at my wedding.

Hey Uncle G!

Our family-minus the twins of course.

All ready to be flower girls!

We're Home!

We got home last Sunday night and are adjusting well. My mom took the girls the first couple of days, so we could focus on the twins. I was anxious to get Lily and Bridget back to our house. Aunt Sarah came to help and it was so wonderful to have her. Bamma and Papa then came this weekend. All the extra hands have been such a blessing. Plus, teachers at Chatard have been bringing by meals. We are so grateful!!!!! Papa with his two grandbabies!

Bridget and her little sister Lucy.

Aunt Sarah, Thomas and Lucy!

The twins taking their first ride. It took us about 25 minutes to get all the kids ready for the walk!

Grandad and tiny Lucy.

Lily and Lucy...such a proud big sister.

Thomas is on the left and Lucy is on the right. Thomas is about 1 lb. bigger than Lucy. Lucy has really dark hair and Thomas' is light. They are both great eaters and I can usually feed them at the same time. The nights haven't even been that horrible! I was actually expecting worse. They went for their one week check-up and everything seems great.

There were many questions about the two deliveries. Lucy was delivered first and everything went great! I delivered in the operating room, since it was considered a high risk pregnancy and there were more doctors and nurses in the room...just in case. Tyler was taking pictures of Lucy and the nurses were telling me how great she looked. I was resting, preparing to deliver Thomas when I glanced at my doctor's face and could tell something was definitely not right. At the same time there was a fluster in the room and I saw that lots of doctors and nurses starting running in the room. There was tons of commotion and some yelling. They put the oxygen mask on my face and to my surprise I was staying very calm. The nurse explained to me that Thomas' umbilical cord had slipped down and if I delivered, Thomas would not get any oxygen. I was going to have to have a c-section. Then a man (not sure who he was) told me they were taking good care of me and everything was going to be ok. The next thing I knew...I woke up. Thomas and Lucy were both healthy and getting their baths. So happy to have my family all home and healthy. Now I just have to get back on my feet before the BIG wedding!

Twin Pictures

Everyone is healthy and doing well. Lucille Elizabeth Mayer (5lbs 13 oz) was born first right before 8pm naturally. Thomas Vincent Mayer (6lbs 15oz) was born around 8:10 by c-section. Everyone is tired but doing well. Enjoy the pictures below:
