7 Quick Takes 5-8-13

1. I keep finding random items in the refrigerator: a piece to the play-doh set, the play cell phone, etc.  I was totally confused.  I found out it was Bridget, my sweet middle child.  She is hiding toys in the fridge so the others won't find them.  That was she can always play with them.  Poor kid...the middle child...between an outgoing older sister...and a set of twins below her.  Tough spot, but she's totally figuring out how to survive!

2. Grocery shopping...it makes me cringe just thinking about it.  Have you ever brought 3 children ages 3 and under to the grocery store?  Surely, it erases away some of my time in purgatory!  I have this dilemma...so few grocery stores have spots where you can strap TWO kids in.  I've tried the "put the more behaved child in the actual cart part."  You wanna know how that turned out?  Lucy fell out and landed on her head while I was checking out.  And it must have freaked out Bridget, because she immediately ran away and I had to catch her.  Everyone was crying and all eyes were on me.  But we made it out and everyone was ok.  Thank goodness!

3. Speaking of all eyes on me...I feel like that happens often to me.  I guess I shouldn't be shocked.  I usually walk around with a full double stroller, a small 3 year old holding my hand, and an independent 5 year old leading the way and at least one kid is crying or whining.  I know what people are thinking, "Are those all yours?"  "Are they triplets?"  "You aren't having any more kids, are you?"  "You have your hands full!"  All of those questions, or comments have been said to me before.  What's kinda nice is that in the past couple years, I've just learned to not care.  I usually just keep my eyes forward and keep moving.  I ignore the stares, comments and keep smiling (usually)  and continue on my way.  I'm not sure if  I'm just more comfortable with having 4 children in 3 years or if this is something that just comes with age.  But boy is it was easier not caring with other think.

4.  Oh yeah, grocery shopping.   I found that Kroger has theses little car carts.  Thomas and Lucy can BOTH be strapped and drive this cute little car.  They are happy!  Then there is a cart Bridget's size, so she's happy and that makes me HAPPY!  The only problem is that the twins are level with all the food.  I didn't think too much of it until I checked out.  I looked into the twins area and Thomas had grabbed a loaf of bread, a box of rice, and instant potatoes.  I totally cracked up!  Then I got home and we came home with two items I had not picked up...Dora fruit snacks and colored marshmallows.  That has Bridget written all over it.  She must have put them in her cart and I never even noticed.  She was so excited about the Dora fruit snacks!

5.  I love to cook with the kids!  It makes cooking dinner easier when they are occupied.   The other day, we had just finished making brownies and I was cleaning up the house.  I walked into the kitchen and Thomas was practicing his cooking skills.  He was cracking eggs on the kitchen floor.  I think he has it mastered.  T-man, I want omelettes for Mother's Day!  Thanks, buddy!

6. Thomas and Lucy turn two on June 2!  Wow, time flies!  They are such little buddies.  Thomas insists on giving Lucy a kiss before nap and bed.  If Lucy isn't awake in the morning, Thomas stands at the bottom of the stairs say, "Lu Lu, Lu Lu, Lu Lu."  While sometimes it's absolute chaos having twins, I also feel so blessed.  Very few people get to experience twins on a daily basis.  Their little friendship is amazing to witness everyday.

7.  I made it to 50 sales last week on Etsy!  Horray!  I never thought I would get there.  Definitely my new favorite hobby!

7 Quick Takes 4-24-13

1.  I've read a couple blogs that do 7 quick takes.  My favorite being mamanash.blogspot.com.  Check her out.  I think that maybe if I can just get 7 quick stories in, I may be able to keep up with this blog a little.  Let's give it a try!  I'm going to most likely focus on crazy stories or quotes of the day.  There's bound to be lots in this house!

2.  Things I never thought I would say:  "Quit putting pasta between your toes!"  Yep, said it to Thomas while having fettuccini for dinner the other night.  The kid gets in trouble, but he does it so innocently.  He just wants to try everything and check it out.  Seriously, the kid is so stinkin' cute and he totally has me wrapped around his finger with that little smile of his.

3.  Lily has her first baseball game on Saturday with her team of 5-6 year old girls.  We've had lots of rain, so they've only had one practice.  I image the game may be as exciting as watching grass grow!  Definitely not as exciting as her soccer league where there was always at least one kid running around with a soccer cone over his head.  And another running off the field to kiss her mom.

4. I hear running water coming from the bathroom.  Thomas and Lucy are both in there unsupervised.  I'll be right back, because I need to investigate.

Ok...they were filling up cups in the sink and dumping it in the toilet.  They may have also been scooping water from the toilet and putting it in the sink.  They flushed down a whole box of kleenex.  It's amazing how much trouble you can get into when you have a partner in crime.

5. Tyler and I attended our first of thirteen weddings this past Saturday.  Yes, 13!  I will need a new pair of dancing shoes!  And maybe a couple of new dresses.  :)  We've been to lots of weddings and this one simply had an amazing "feel."  It's difficult to put into words.  You could just sense the love in the room.  It was amazing!  The couple took dance lessons and it was just adorable.  Also, during the father/daughter dance, they invited all fathers and daughters to come and dance.  I loved this idea and loved getting a little dance in with my dad!  It  was also super cute to see my brother dancing with his 3 month old daughter.

6. I love Wednesdays!  It's just Thomas, Lucy, and I.  The girls are at preschool all day.  We go to the YMCA in the morning.  They have TWO FREE HOURS of babysitting.  I usually workout, but also get to catch up on emails and phone calls without the constant interuption of having 4 children ages almost 2-5.  I also usually tweak my etsy shop and try to get in a little promoting.

7. Speaking of Etsy...gosh, how do I love my shop!  It's given me my own "thing."  It keeps me on my toes and let's me think about something besides diapers and dinner!  While it hasn't brought in lots of money, it brought lots of sanity, so well worth it in my opinion.  Plus, every sale brings a smile to my face and perhaps a little happy dance!

Hi!

I gave up!  Life is pretty much chaos!  But just lately I've had people asking about the blog.  I'm making no promises, but I'm going to try a little harder at updating, because really, the stories are too funny.

The other day I went upstairs to get clothes for all the kids.  I came back down and Thomas and Lucy were covered in peanut butter.  I asked Lily "What happened?"  She told me they looked funny with mustaches.  Valid point Lily, but don't cover your brother and sister in peanut butter.

I'm not going to guarantee anything, but I'm hope to at least put a funny story or two up here.  With four under four, there's at least one everyday!  Also, I've been a little busy with this:

Check it out!  I've made a couple of sales and am hoping for more.  I also have a few more items to post!  Something exciting or me.

Until next time and who knows when that will be!

Meet the Nash Family

Our seven kids finally met!  We got together with Tyler's college roommate in the seminary, Brian, and his wife, Jenny.  I think there may have even been a love connection between Lily and William.  Katherine is just the cutest baby and Bridget and Lucy (yes, they have a Lucy, too) liked hanging out!  Great to see you guys!

10 Months Old

They both have two bottom teeth!  Love these little hams!

Dr. Mayer

 Lily's new favorite game...dentist!
And this little ham was found in the bathroom, up to his elbows, splashing in the toilet with a pink highlighter.  This boy is trouble, but his little smile makes my anger melt away!

Tyler turned 30!  I had a surprise party for him and he finally got and HD TV.  He was talking about getting one since before we were married!

Prom

Lily and Tyler and St. Augustine's Prom

I stayed home with the twins.  Tyler called me because Bridget came saying, "Go home."  Typical Bridget, I wasn't surprised.  When I went to pick her up, they walked out.  Well, Lily actually danced out of the building, said hi and danced back in.  The girls loves to shake it!

Spring Break Play Date

We had a play date with Erin and Michael Fredrickson!
Lily had her first sleepover at our house with Erin Reilly!

9 Months Old

Thsi was so long ago!  I think they were both army crawling.  Thomas army crawled first.  Thomas loves to sleep and Lucy is too busy for that!

Early March and Oh So Warm

Lucy and Thomas' first trip to the park!  They loved the swings, although Thomas was a little camera shy.  We even had a little picnic.

Lily On Stage

For about a week, Lily had many performances.  Let's be honest though, Lily is on performance all the time.

 Lily at her ballet recital.
Lily was the white dog in her preschool play of, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear."
They also sang us a little song.  Seriously, cute!

I Almost Gave Up...

It's been so long I almost decided to stop, but I think Tyler would be sad.  I know he loves to check it from work.  I'll try to recap the last month and a half in the upcoming posts.

I got Thomas this hat!  Isn't it ridiculously cute?!?!?!

Obviously, there are many differences between boys and girls, but I feel like they may stand out even more when you have twins.  Check out Lu...just a little bit on her face and hands.  Thomas...EVERYWHERE!!!  The picture doesn't even do it justice, because it was in his hair and all the way up his arms.  He eats like a monster, too and growls if he is out of food.

Things of Note for the Day

1. Thomas AND Lucy slept through the night last night! Yahoo!
2. Bridget told me my stomach felt like play-doh....faaaaaaaantastic.
3. Thomas and Lucy usually go down for nap together and get up together. One of my favorite moments of the day is walking into their room and seeing both of their little heads popped up and smiling at me.
4. A salesperson came to the door tonight. I kept trying to give her the hint that I couldn't talk and she wasn't having any of it. Finally, Bridget came to the door COMPLETELY naked. She finally got the point that she needed to leave and did. Thanks, B!

Chuck E. Cheese

Have I told you about the O'Bryan's? They are a wonderful family and good friends of my parents! Their children are grown. They had 5 children 6 and under, including a set of twins and another with special needs. Anyways, they can relate to our craziness and have offered to come to come once a month and watch all four kids or just the twins, if we would like to take the girls out. For Christmas they gave us a gift card to Chuck E. Cheese, so we recently went for the first time!

Obviously, the girls LOVED it! They were so well-behaved! We had a about 50 tokens to spend. They won their tickets and all we come home with was a plastic whistle and a tatoo!

This was always my favorite when I was little.

So happy about driving the truck!

Chuck E. doesn't have his band like he did when we were little, but he is a host of a talk show or at least that's what it looked like. Bridget didn't want to go say hi to him because, "Me be scared." Lily quickly went to go check him out. We had a blast! Thanks O'Bryan's for letting us take the girls out!
